Arizona Coyotes vs Los Angeles Kings NHL Picks, Odds, Predictions 5/5/21

The Los Angeles Kings and the Arizona Coyotes meet in NHL action from the Gila River Arena on Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles Kings will look to build off of their 3-2 win over Arizona in their last game. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in soring with 49 points including 13 goals and a team-high 36 assists while Drew Doughty has 34 points with 26 assists. Dustin Brown’s got 31 points with a team-high 17 goals while Adrian Kempe and Alex Iafallo each have double-digit goal and assist tallies this season. As a team, Los Angeles is averaging 2.6 goals on 29.3 shots with a 19.7% success rate on the power play while allowing 3 goals on 30.9 shots with an 84.8% success rate killing off penalties this season.

The Arizona Coyotes will look to bounce back from their loss to the Kings in their last game. Phil Kessel and Jakob Chychrun share the team lead in scoring with 38 points with Kessel posting a team-high 18 goals with 20 assists while Chychrun has 17 goals and 21 assists. Clayton Keller’s got 35 points with 14 goals and 21 assists while Conor Garland and Nick Schmaltz each have 32 points with a team-high 22 assists this season. Christian Dvorak has 28 points with 15 goals as well on the year. As a team, Arizona is averaging 2.6 goals on 27.1 shots with a 19.6% conversion rate on the power play while allowing 3.1 goals on 30.4 shots with an 80.5% success rate on the PK this season.

Los Angeles is 29-59 in their last 88 games following a win and 24-50 in their last 74 road games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. Arizona is 11-5 in their last 16 games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 in their last 5 home games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. The under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams.

I think the Arizona Coyotes are the only way to go in this game. The Los Angeles Kings are pretty much done even though there’s still an outside chance that they make the playoffs, Arizona is in closer distance but the Blues who are currently in have three games in hand. Maybe we see a more desperate effort from the Kings, but I think that side-by-side, the Coyotes are the team more likely to get the job done.
