Arsenal is welcoming Everton to Emirates Stadium in a derby match of round 33 in the English Premier League.
Arsenal has been decent as of late, and they are undefeated in their last 4 games while winning 2 of those 4 games. Same as many teams this week, Arsenal were going through a turbulent period because of the European Super League, but they dropped out as well. Arsenal will be playing one of the most important games of the season for the next week, and it will be in the Europa League semifinals against Villarreal, a matchup that will be really hard for Arsenal. In their last EPL game, Arsenal was hosting Fulham, and they were the dominant team with an impressive 69% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 11 corner kicks, 5 big chances created, and a solid 88% of the correct passes. Despite all the chances, Arsenal couldn’t score a goal, but they conceded in the 59th minute from the penalty spot. In the 97th minute, when everything seemed to be over, Arsenal has scored an equalizer, and this game has ended in a 1-1 draw. Arsenal is now in 9th place with 46 points, far away from the Europa League spot, and even further from the Champions League spot. Arsenal now has a lot of important injuries such as Tierney, Aubameyang, and Lacazette, and for that reason, I think they will rest some players in this game because it would be a tragedy if another injury happens to them.
Everton is playing well, but they can’t hold onto the lead, and Everton can’t win a game if it was handed to them. In their last 6 games, Everton has 3 losses and 3 draws, and they are slipping further and further away from the Europa League spot. Everton is now in 8th place with 49 points and winning 3 points in this game would be precious for them. Everton was playing against Tottenham in their last game, and they were a better team with 52% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 78% of the correct passes. This was an enjoyable game where Tottenham was losing in the 27th minute, but they tied the score in the 31st minute. With another goal in the 62nd minute, Everton has taken the lead, but Tottenham got back with a goal in the 68th minute. We didn’t see any more goals in this match, and the final result was 2-2. With 14 scored goals, Calvert-Lewin is the leading goalscorer for Everton, while Rodriguez, Richarlison, and Sigurdsson added 6 goals each. Delph, Doucoure, Bernard, Gbamin, and Mina are all injured for Everton. With only 6 games left to be played this season, Everton has a good chance to get to the Europa League spot, but they have a really tough schedule, and they will need to start winning some games fast.
Arsenal has been a slightly better team recently, but Everton has one big advantage here, and that is their coach. Everton is not playing bad soccer, they just lack the focus to stay in the game all the way, but considering Arsenal is missing some key players, and they are playing in the Europa League next week, I will side with Everton to get their first win in a while.
