The Minnesota Twins and the Baltimore Orioles meet in MLB action from Camden Yards on Tuesday night.
The Minnesota Twins will look to build on their 2-1 win over Baltimore from Monday’s series opener. Luis Arraez leads the Twins with 21 hits including a pair of doubles while also posting a .296 batting average. Byron Buxton also has 16 hits with a team-high home runs with 12 RBIs and Trevor Larnach has 8 doubles to lead the Twins in two-baggers this season. Jorge Polanco and Max Kepler each have 12 RBIs as well on the year while Carlos Correa’s also added 21 hits. Joe Ryan will be tabbed as the starter for Minnesota here and is 3-1 with a 1.17 ERA and 25 strikeouts this season.
The Baltimore Orioles will look to rebound from their loss to the Twins on Monday. Austin Hays leads the O’s with 22 hits including 7 doubles and a .265 batting average while Anthony Santander has 3 home runs with 11 RBIs. Jorge Mateo and Cedric Mullins each have 5 doubles while Mullins and Ryan Mountcastle each have 20 hits this season. Bruce Zimmermann will start here and is 1-1 with a 0.93 ERA and 21 strikeouts this season.
Minnesota is 5-0 in their last 5 games as a favorite and 4-0 in their last 4 games against a left-handed starter while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games as a road favorite. Baltimore is 5-0 in Zimmermann’s last 5 home starts and 13-43 in their last 56 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 9-2-1 in their last 12 games against the AL Central.
I get the allure of backing either side here as Joe Ryan looks like a stud in the making for this Twins lineup and the Orioles have one of the more profitable pitchers in baseball with Zimmermann who has looked really good so far this season. However, I’m looking at the under in this one as I think this could be a good, old fashioned pitcher’s duel. Minnesota’s been playing well but Zimmermann isn’t intimidated by this Twins lineup and Joe Ryan will likely hold down this subpar Orioles batting order. Could end up being a 3-2 or another 2-1 game, either way, give me the under here.
