Los Angeles Clippers Kawhi Leonard vs. Washington Wizards

The Bet: Over 28.5 Points (-110)

The Washington Wizards have been a regular guest on props picks digest here as we keep booking them because they keep playing horrible defense. Washington remains one of the worst defensive teams in the league, even though the Sacramento Kings overtook them for the most points allowed per game. The Wizards still sit in second in that category while floating around the bottom-ten in opponents’ field goal percentage, three-pointers allowed, and dead last in free throws. Bad news when going up against a guy like Kawhi Leonard.

Kawhi leads the Clippers and is right around the league’s top-ten, hitting 5.5 free throws per game. The former Raptor is shooting near 90 percent from the line, and getting to the stripe is a big part of his game. Leonard, a defensive genius, has also become a complete offensive player. Kawhi is leading his team with nearly 27 a game while adding two triples a night. He’s also been remarkably efficient, shooting over 50 percent from the field and almost 40 percent from behind the arc.

The Clippers superstar has scored at least 29 points in each of his past four games, averaging almost 32 a game over that span. It doesn’t matter who he’s playing, as Kawhi dropped 29 on one of the NBA’s best defenses in Utah, but it definitely helps matching up with such a poor defensive team with a weak frontcourt like the Wizards. Expect Leonard to keep up his hot scoring streak.

LA is a -10 point home favorite, with the Moneyline sitting at a nutty -500, so a blowout is entirely in the cards. The total at FanDuel’s Sportsbook is 235.5, so expect plenty of scoring with a good chunk coming from the hands of The Claw.

Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic vs. Portland Trail Blazers

The Bet: Over 45.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists (-113)

The number one player in fantasy basketball is perhaps the number one player to go at overs in the props’ triple-double category. Ok, well, maybe number two as Nikola Jokic sits in second, one behind Russell Westbrook, in the league with seven triple-doubles on the season. But remember, Jokic doesn’t have to put up a trip-dub as his 45.5 can come by any combination of points, assists, and rebounds. The Nuggets center does all very well.

Jokic leads the third-highest scoring team in the league, putting up nearly 27 points a game which also ranks him tenth in the NBA in scoring. The big Serbian also leads the Nuggs with 11.1 rebounds a night, which puts him 11th in the league. And guess what? Jokic also is the team-leader in assists, putting up 8.5 assists per game. Not only is he easily leading all centers in the category, but he’s challenging the best season mark for assists by a center in league history. Playing a team like Portland can only up his chances at bumping all those stats.

Portland allows the fourth-most points in the league, giving up over 114 per game, and is also in the bottom half of the league, allowing scoring in the key. The Blazers also allow opposing teams the seventh-most rebounds in the league, giving up over 46 a game. It doesn’t help Portland’s cause stopping Jokic on the glass or in the paint with their seven-footer Jusuf Nurkic still on the shelf with a fractured wrist. It also doesn’t help they played in Phoenix last night, so travel and playing the second-leg of a back-to-back could create some fatigue. You don’t want fatigue when dealing with a load like Jokic.

Denver is just two games back of the Blazers in the Northwest Divison and for the fifth seed in the Western Conference playoffs, so expect Jokic and his Nuggets to come out fired up for this important divisional game.

The Nuggets are -7.5 point home favorites with a beefy -330 Moneyline. FanDuel’s Sportsbook has the total of 230.5, which should be mostly accounted for by Nikola and the Nuggs.
