Bettor Who Wagered $10K on Kings to Win it All Doubles Down With Another Big Bet

Sacramento Kings What Are The Odds

  • Caesars Sportsbook has received an $8,000 bet on the Sacramento Kings to win the 2023 NBA title at 350-1 odds.
  • The wager was made by the same bettor who placed a $10,000 bet last month on the Kings to win it all at 750-1 odds.
  • The bettor would win a total of $10.3 million if the Kings become the 2023 NBA champions.

Last month Caesars Sportsbook reported that it had received a $10,000 bet on the Sacramento Kings to win the 2022-23 NBA championship. The bet itself pales in comparison to the millions that Mattress Mack wagers for the Houston Astros but since the Kings opened at 750-1 odds, that bet became news because if the Kings do end up winning the 2023 NBA title, that bettor would win $7,500,000.00.

But then, that’s not the story. Caesars says the bettor came back for more.

Bettor Came Back for More

In a Twitter post dated August 4th, Caesars Sportsbook said that the same bettor went back to add another $8,000 bet on the Kings to win the 2023 NBA championship. This time around, the wager was made at a shorter +350-1 odds. Still, it would win $2,800,000. His combined bet of $18,000 would be worth $10,300,000 if the Kings win it all this season. That’s massive. But then again the bet is on the Kings. I mean, who would bet on the Kings to win the 2023 NBA championship?

When the first big bet was made last month, some on social media theorized that the bet could have come from rapper 50 Cent, who sat courtside beside Kings owner Vivek Ranadive in one of the team’s Summer League Games. 50 Cent recently signed a deal with the Kings where his Sire Spirits wine company became the official premium champagne partner of the NBA franchise.

That speculation has a basis, given 50’s alliance with the Kings and his history of betting big on underdogs. Remember when he won $1 million on the New York Giants to win Super Bowl XLVII? The Giants were up against a Patriots team that was looking for a perfect 29-0 season. The G-Men beat Tom Brady as a +12.5 point underdog. Could it have been 50 Cent? We don’t know.

Kings an Underrated Squad?

Sacramento drafted Keegan Murray with the 4th overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft. After opening at +1200 odds to win Rookie of the Year honors, Murray’s stock has risen after he was named the 2022 NBA Summer League MVP. His current Rookie of the Year odds? +750, 4th behind Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren, and Jaden Ivey.

Aside from drafting Murray, the Kings flew under the radar to sign Lakers swingman Malik Monk who was coming off his best season ever in the NBA. The Kings also acquired Atlanta Hawks sharpshooter Kevin Huerter. The Kings will also be returning superstar guard De’Aaron Fox and All-Star center Domantas Sabonis whom they acquired at the trade deadline.

There’s no question that the Kings got better during the offseason and that in addition to getting already better after last season’s trade deadline with Sabonis. The Kings went 9-16 SU since acquiring Sabonis but finished the campaign with a 5-5 mark. There is enough to be optimistic about. But the Kings have not made the playoffs in the last 16 seasons and have never been in the Conference Finals since 2002 when Big Shot Bob killed their title hopes. Winning it all this year is a long shot. But if they do, someone’s gonna be smiling all the way to the bank.
