- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have overtaken the Kansas City Chiefs as Super Bowl LVI favorites at
ScoreBet, Circa Sports, Bet365, and BetOnline.
- Kansas City is however still the odds on favorite at DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars Sportsbook.
- The movement comes after Kansas City dropped its second game of the season to the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday.
We’re only two weeks into the 2021 NFL season and the best NFL sportsbooks, well at least several of them, have already changed their mind about their Super Bowl LVI odds-on-favorite.
2019 Super Bowl Champions Kansas City have been the consensus betting favorite since the betting lines for this year’s NFL title game opened. However, with things not going their way early on, and the reigning Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers looking like a well-oiled machine to start their title defense, some sportsbooks have flipped the two teams from their places in the odds boards.
Bucs Overtake Chiefs as Super Bowl LVI Favorites After Week 2
Super Bowl odds update: Bucs overtake Chiefs as favorites after Week 2. 👀🏆 https://t.co/MJJ5NZLN1A
— theScore Bet (@theScoreBet) September 21, 2021
According to ScoreBet, the Bucs are now the +400 betting favorites to win Super Bowl LVI with the Chiefs moving down to second favorites at +450. That’s the shortest price that the Bucs have seen next to their team name this season.
Online sportsbook Circa Sports also has installed the Buc as the +475 betting favorites to repeat as NFL champions with the Chiefs moving to second spot at +550. Bet365 meanwhile has placed Tampa Bay as its +450 odds on favorite while relegating Kansas City to second place at +500. The BetOnline App also had the Bucs at +450 and the Chiefs at +500 after the defending champs romped their way to a second straight win to start the 2021 season.
Kansas City meanwhile, suffered their first loss of the season last weekend to drop to 1-1 on the year. The Chiefs coughed up an 11-point lead to start the 4th quarter by going scoreless for 15 minutes while allowing Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens to come back from a live odds of +1000 in the 4th period to win the game outright 36-35 as 3.5 points spread underdogs.
Other Sportsbooks Still Have the Chiefs On Top

But while the Bucs are now favored by Circa Sports, ScoreBet, and BetOnline, the other top NFL sportsbooks still have the Chiefs on top of their Super Bowl LVI odds boards so there is no reason to be worried, at least not yet, for Chiefs backers. In the words of Aaron Rodgers, R-E-L-A-X.
DraftKings still has Mahomes & Co. on top at +450 while Brady’s bunch is second at +500. FanDuel and Caesars Sportsbooks still have Kansas City as the +500 odds on favorite to win the Lombardi Trophy. But just like at DraftKings, the Bucs have closed into within $50 at +550 at both betting sites. FoxBet, and Borgata Online also have the Chiefs at +500 but these three online sportsbooks have Tampa Bay with slightly longer +600 odds. UniBet has the longest price in Kansas City right now at +525. Tampa Bay is listed at +575 in that online bookmaker.
Still, Tampa Bay getting the nod at several top sportsbooks is a big thing. Kansas City has been the Super Bowl favorite during the previous two preseasons and they have held on to that spot consecutively since Week 7 of the 2020 campaign. Even after Tampa Bay wallopped them at Super Bowl LV, sportsbooks still picked the Chiefs over the Bucs. Well, until now. But it also remains to be seen for how long or short the Bucs’ reign on top of the odds board will be.
