Cubs’ Lineup Update For Wednesday June 9th

The Chicago Cubs have released their Wednesday lineup against the Padres, and not listed are SS Javier Baez, 3B Kris Bryant, and catcher Willson Contreras.

This will be the third straight game that Baez will sit out due to a sore right thumb. Sergio Alcantara will take his place at shortstop and bat seventh in the lineup.

Chicago will also give Patrick Wisdom another start as he fills in for Bryant at third base. In just 40 at-bats this season, Wisdom has already hit eight home runs with a .375/.432/1.025 slash line.

As for Contreras, he’ll get a breather behind the plate, with P.J. Higgins filling in and batting eighth.

The Cubs are as high as a +220 underdog, with Jake Arrieta on the road against Yu Darvish in the series finale.
