The news was reported first by ESPN on Thursday. Per the report, the fight is subject to Till being cleared for a broken collarbone which forced him out of his fight with Marvin Vettori last month.

Till has withdrawn from his last two bouts due to injury. The Gorilla was supposed to fight Jack Hermannson last December but pulled out of the fight with a knee injury. Then Till was supposed to fight Marvin Vettori last month but also withdrew due to a collarbone injury. Vettori went on to beat Kevin Holland at UFC Vegas 23 and earn a title shot against Israel Adesanya next month.
The Gorilla has lost three out of his last four bouts and is 1-1 since moving up to middleweight. Till earned a split decision win over Kelvin Gastelum during his 185-pound debut and then he lost a competitive five round decision to no. 1 ranked middleweight and former champion Robert Whitaker in his most recent bout.
Despite his recent struggles inside the Octagon and with injuries, Till is still the 6th ranked middleweight in the UFC. Had he fought and defeated Marvin Vettori last month, it could have been him who would be getting the next crack at Israel Adesanya. Instead, Till will have a tough task against the veteran Brunson
Four-Fight Winning Streak
Derek Brunson brought Kevin Holland’s hot streak in the UFC to an end with a unanimous decision victory in the main event of #UFCVegas22 at the APEX Facility.
Brunson’s record now sits at 22-7 with a four-fight win streak.

Brunson is ranked one spot higher than Till at no. 5 in the latest UFC middleweight rankings. The 37-year old southpaw lost four out of six bouts from 2016 to 2018. But just when it seemed that his career was over, Brunson has bounced back with four consecutive victories.
Last August, Brunson derailed the highly touted prospect Edmen Shahbazyan, knocking out the youngster inside three rounds. Then in his last fight, Brunson ended Kevin Holland’s five fight winning streak and dealt Trail Blazers his first defeat at the APEX Facility.
This is one of the closest Brunson has been to fighting for the world title and if he can beat Till convincingly, his stock would most certainly rise. Robert Whitaker may be waiting in the wings for the winner of Adesanya vs Vettori 2. But there are no plans after that and Brunson could put his name in the mix.
