DeMarcus Cousins is Being Released by the Houston Rockets

DeMarcus Cousins’ short stint as a member of the Houston Rockets has come to an end. The Rockets have lost eight in a row, and when you added in a pair of postponed games, they haven’t won a game in almost three weeks. They have dropped four games back of a playoff spot with six teams ahead of them, so waving the white flag probably isn’t a bad idea. Houston has opted to go faster and smaller in the frontcourt, and while happy with Cousins’ attitude and offensive production, he was a huge liability on defense. They held out the veteran big man from their last game, an embarrassing 20-point loss on their home court against the Chicago Bulls.

It remains to be seen what the interest level will be on Cousins as a free agent, so unless your fantasy league allows an IL+ spot where you can reserve players, not on the IL, it’s a safe bet to cut ties with the former Warrior and perhaps try and pick him up again should he land in a good playing time situation.
