Dinamo Zagreb and West Ham United face off in the first game of Group H of the Europa League on Thursday at Stadion Maksimir.
Dinamo Zagreb currently sits in 1st place in the Croatian First Football League having picked up 16 points in seven games. Dinamo Zagreb has won two of their last three games, and each of those games were played to a 2-0 victory. In the last game, they had 25 total shots while Sibenik could only manage seven. Even though they did come away with the victory, they didn’t break through until the 68th minute when Rasmus Lauritsen put one in the back of the net. In the last game, they lost they gave up three goals, and they need to make sure their defense slows down West Ham.
On the other side of this matchup is West Ham United who currently sit in 8th place in the standings having picked up eight points in their four games. West Ham has won two games and played to a draw in the other two games. This is an offense that is good and three games ago against Leicester City they scored four goals. In the last game against Southampton, West Ham couldn’t find the back of the net. West Ham had 59 percent of the possession, but they could only manage three shots on goal. The biggest issue for West Ham at times has been their inconsistency, especially when they get into big games like the Europa League.
Dinamo Zagreb is a team with a defense that isn’t great, and West Ham is an offense that can run up the score. Look for West Ham to get out to a fast start with their offense, but I also believe Dinamo Zagreb will also score a goal or two. Back the over to cash.
