England is hosting Croatia at Wembley in round 1 of Group D in the Euro Cup 2021. England is on a 6-game winning streak, and they are also on a 6-game winning streak at home. Croatia has been a bit sloppy lately, but they are still a strong team that can make anyone’s life complicated.
England is in good form, especially on the defensive end where they have conceded only 1 goal in their last 6 games. England’s offense hasn’t been producing much, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a dangerous team. In their last 2 friendly games, England has 2 wins and 1 scored goal in each game, but they will need a lot more than that on this tournament. Kane has been in great form, and so was Calvert-Lewin, at least at the start of the season, but they still have Rashford and Sancho who can score a lot of goals as well. Defensively, England has a few new players, and with Maguire still questionable, that could be a problem for England. The midfield is England’s strongest part of the team, and most of their games will be decided there, but from what I’ve been reading in the news, England is confident, they believe they can go far, and I think that is a proper attitude, they just need to what they want to do. England is a solid team, I can’t deny that, but they tend to get overly confident, and that could cost them a lot.
Croatia hasn’t had a lot of good results lately, only 2 wins in their last 9 games, and they haven’t won any of their last 2 friendly games. Once again, everyone seems to be underestimating Croatia, and the bookies are giving more chances to Denmark to win the Euro Cup than Croatia. Sure, form is important, but Croatia is the kind of a team that will always give it their all when the time comes, and that time has now come. Croatia’s strongest part is also their midfield led by the king, Modric, a fresh Champions League winner with Chelsea, Mateo Kovacic, and Serie A winner, Marcelo Brozovic. I’m not gonna say the Croatian offense is weak because they have Kramaric, the 4th goalscorer in Bundesliga this past season, Rebic who has scored a lot of goals for Milan, and Budimir and Petkovic who are both fighters. Croatia has lost to Belgium in their last game, but they weren’t playing badly. Croatia must get more effective in the attacking end because they will need to score quite a few goals to compensate for sloppy defense. I think Croatia will advance to the next stage, and if they get a positive result from this game, they might even end up at the top of the group.
Croatia hasn’t been playing well on the road, and England playing at home certainly won’t help here, but I think this will be a tough game, and England doesn’t deserve to be such a favorite here. We are getting a solid value with both teams, but I will take the double chance on Croatia for plus money.
