Furman vs The Citadel College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/24/21

The Citadel Bulldogs and the Furman Paladins meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Timmons Arena.

The Citadel enters this one at 12-10 so far. The Bulldogs are 1-3 in their last four games and coming off a loss to Mercer. As for Furman, they’re 15-7 this season. The Paladins have won three straight, most recently over Mercer. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

The Citadel started out their season at 9-4 before a three-game losing streak to East Tennessee State, Western Carolina and UNC Greensboro. Since then it’s been a 3-3 run with losses to Chattanooga, Wofford and Mercer during that time.

In the 88-52 loss to Mercer on Monday, the Citadel’s Kaiden Rice and Rudy Fitzgibbons were the only double-digit scorers on the team. Each player had 10 points, and the duo combined for two assists and two rebounds as well.

Over on the Furman side, they’ve had a few ups and downs this season, but have only lost consecutive games twice so far. Over their last five the Paladins are 4-1 with wins over UNC Greensboro, Western Carolina, Samford and Mercer during that stretch.

In the 70-60 win over Mercer on Saturday, Furman’s Noah Gurley put up 24 points with 10 rebounds and one assist. Mike Bothwell added 17 points with six rebounds, and Jalen Slawson had 12 points with six boards.

Furman is 0-6 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Paladins are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 as a home underdog and the over is 11-4 in their last 15 Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight as a road favorite. The under is 4-0 in the Citadel’s last four road games and 11-1 in their last 12 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Furman. The Bulldogs haven’t been scoring all that well over their last four games, with 67 or fewer points in three of those outings. Furman is on a good run offensively themselves, with 70 or more in three straight games. The Paladins won 94-88 the last time these teams met, and I like another high-scoring game here.
