Joburg Open: Tournament Matchup Bets, Odds 11/24/21

This Wednesday evening, the DP World Tour presents golf fans with the first round of the Joburg Open.

Before I discuss my favorite tournament matchup bets for the Joburg Open let’s take a look at the current leaders in scoring average on the DP World Tour that are in this week’s field.

Top Five Golfers in Scoring Average

  1. Jacques Kruyswijk 69.24
  2. Dean Burmester 69.57
  3. Niall Kearney 69.63
  4. Masahiro Kawamura 69.90
  5. Justin Harding 69.92

Now that we have established who the top five golfers with regard to scoring average are on the DP World Tour (in this week’s field) let’s shift our attention to my favorite tournament matchup bets for this week’s Joburg Open.

Jayden Schaper -135 over Neil Schietekat

Jayden Schaper arrives at this week’s DP World Tour event on the heels of four consecutive top 12 finishes on the Sunshine Tour, including a fifth place result at the South African PGA Championship three weeks ago.

Schaper also checks the box for me when it comes to previous course/event history. The Firethorn Course at the Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg, South Africa will host this week’s Joburg Open. The Firethorn Course also hosted the 2020 South African Open and the 2020 Joburg Open. Jayden Schaper finished sixth at the 2020 South African Open and 18th at the 2020 Joburg Open.

Matthew Jordan -105 over Romain Langasque

Since the beginning of September, Matthew Jordan has played eight tournaments on the DP World Tour. In those eight events just mentioned, Jordan has accumulated four top 24 finishes, including an impressive fifth place result at the 2021 Portugal Masters earlier this month.

Matthew Jordan also checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. In relation to this week’s current listed Joburg Open field, in the last four weeks of competitive golf played, Jordan ranks 14th in GIR (greens in regulation-76.4%), fourth in driving distance, and third in scrambling (73.3%).

I should also note that Matthew Jordan has played well at the Firethorn Course in the past. More specifically. Jordan finished 23rd at the 2020 Joburg Open.
