Lonzo Ball Out Sunday

Jim Eichenhofer reports Lonzo Ball will miss Sunday’s matchup between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Cleveland Cavaliers due to a lingering hip injury.

Ball returned to the court on Apr.4 after missing three weeks. He last played in the Pelicans’ 139-111 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Apr. 7, playing 28 minutes, scoring 15 points, and three assists. He has appeared in 41 games this season, averaging 32 minutes, 15 points, four rebounds and six assists per game.

Expect Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram to see an increase in production with Ball off out the court. In 693 minutes this season without Ball, Williamson has a team-leading 32.7% usage rate, averaging 1.41 fantasy points per minute, and Ingram has a 28.5% usage rate, averaging 1.11 fantasy points per minute.

Naji Marshall started in place of Ball for the Pelicans’ 101-94 win against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, playing 23 minutes, scoring one point, with three rebounds and four assists.

With a 23-29 record, the Pelicans are +24000 to win the NBA Championship on FanDuel Sportsbook. They will face a Cleveland team who will be playing on the second leg of a back-to-back.
