Los Angeles Angels vs. Arizona Diamondbacks MLB Picks, Odds, Predictions 6/11/2021

The Los Angeles Angels and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet in MLB action from Chase Field on Friday night.

The Los Angeles Angels will look to build off of a 6-1 win over Kansas City last time out. Anthony Rendon and Kolten Wong each had two RBIs with Rendon adding a double while Jose Iglesias and Juan Lagares each had an RBI as well to cap off the scoring for the Angels in the win with Iglesias going 2 for 3 with a double. Max Stassi went 2 for 4 with a double of his own while Jared Walsh, Shohei Ohtani and Justin Upton each had base hits as well to finish off the offense for the Halos in the win. Griffin Canning got the win to improve to 5-4 on the year after allowing one run on five hits while striking out six over 6.2 innings of work. Ohtani will get the start on the mound here and is 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA and 60 strikeouts this season. This will be Ohtani’s first career start against Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to rebound from a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Oakland A’s last time out. Tim Locastro and Ketel Marte each had a base hit as the D-Backs had just two hits as a team in the losing effort with the rest of the team batting 0 for 25 with 4 strikeouts in the loss. Matt Peacock ended up with the loss, falling to 2-3 on the year after allowing three runs on three hits while walking three over 1.2 innings of work. Merrill Kelly will start this one and is 2-6 with a 5.12 ERA and 62 strikeouts this season. This will be Kelly’s first career start against the Angels.

Los Angeles is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 1-4 in their last 5 interleague road games while the over is 7-1-2 in their last 10 interleague games as a favorite. Arizona is 16-37 in their last 53 games overall and 14-37 in their last 51 games as an underdog while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a loss. Los Angeles is 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

I’m not trying to back the Angels as much as the next person, especially when laying juice on the road. However, the Angels are simply the better team with Ohtani on the mound and as bad as the Angels have been at times, the Diamondbacks have been worse lately. I think even at this price laying juice on the road, there’s value with the Angels so give me the Angels in this one.
