The Los Angeles Clippers play host to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Crypto.com Arena on Friday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in decent form as they’ve won four of their last five games overall and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after outlasting the shorthanded Lakers in a 126-121 road win on Wednesday. Joel Embiid led the team with 30 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, James Harden added 24 points with seven rebounds and seven assists while Tyrese Maxey tallied 21 points with seven assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 51 percent from the field and 10 of 27 from the 3-point line as they poured in 34 points in the second quarter to build a 16-point lead which proved to be just enough in the end as the pesky Lakers rallied in the second half to get to within three points late in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have been in a slump as they’ve lost seven of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a four-game slide after coming up short against the Nuggets in a 127-115 road loss on Tuesday. Terance Mann led the team with 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists while Marcus Morris, Reggie Jackson, Robert Covington and Isaiah Hartenstein each scored 14 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line but their problems were on the defensive end as they were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing the Nuggets to pour in 37 points in the first quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 0-3-1 ATS in their last four road games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Clippers are 0-4 ATS in their last four games as an underdog, 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall, the 76ers are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall and the 76ers are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Los Angeles.
The 76ers are coming into this game with plenty of momentum after taking down the Lakers in their last outing and they should be at full strength again which is a rarity in the league this season. The Clippers haven’t looked like themselves during this slump and they will be hoping to get off to a better start in this one after falling behind early against the Nuggets on Tuesday. The Clippers should be able to hang around in this one, but in the end, I have the more consistent 76ers pulling away for the win and cover in this spot.
