Los Angeles Lakers vs Denver Nuggets NBA Picks, Odds, Predictions 5/3/21

The Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers duke it out at the Staples Center on Monday night.

The Denver Nuggets have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league as they’ve won nine of their past 10 games and they will be eager to build on their current five-game win streak after outlasting the Clippers in a 110-104 road win on Saturday. Nikola Jokic led the team with 30 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists, Michael Porter Jr. added 25 points with seven rebounds and five assists on 10 of 16 shooting while Patrick Dozier chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot 48 percent from the field and 12 of 32 from the 3-point line as they used a 9-0 run to build an 11-point lead early in the fourth quarter, before holding on for the narrow win as the Clippers got to within three points with 2:06 remaining.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have been in a funk lately as they’ve lost six of their past seven games and they will be hoping to put a halt to a three-game skid after last night’s 121-114 home loss to the Raptors. Kyle Kuzma led the team in scoring with 24 points on eight of 16 shooting off the bench, LeBron James and Andre Drummond each scored 19 points while Talen Horton-Tucker chipped in with 14 points and seven assists. As a team, the Lakers shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 29 from the 3-point line as they took the early lead with 38 points in the first quarter, before getting completely blown out in the second quarter by 40-21 to fall behind by as many as 21 points. Defensively, the Lakers couldn’t do much to slow down the Raptors’ Pascal Siakam who poured in 39 points on 15 of 26 shooting, while Anthony Davis had a night to forget as he scored just 12 points on five of 16 shooting.

I will update with betting trends once they become available.

The Lakers will once again be without Dennis Schroder due to health and safety protocols and they’re running low on confidence after dropping their third straight game. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are continuing to pile on the wins despite losing Jamal Murray, Monte Morris and Will Barton to injuries.
