Manchester City is hosting Paris Saint-Germain at Etihad Stadium in the second leg of the Champions League semifinals.
City is on another winning streak, this time 4-game long, and they are playing great soccer on both ends. In their EPL game against Crystal Palace on the road, City has won that match 0-2, and they have secured the EPL title. As far as the Champions League goes, City was the better team last week in the first leg with 60% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and a high 92% of the correct passes. The first half was sloppy for Manchester City, and they were losing 1-0 at halftime, but City was a completely different team in the second half, and they have won this match 1-2. Torres is still the leading goalscorer for City with 4 goals, while De Bruyne, Gundogan, and Foden each added 3 goals. De Bruyne also has 4 assists. There are no injuries or suspensions in Manchester City at this time. Without Bayern in the mix, Manchester City is the biggest favorite to win the Champions League, and last week they have showed us a tiny bit of what they are capable of, and I believe Manchester City will win this competition for the first time in their history, and they deserve it.
After losing in the first leg, PSG has had a tough game in Ligue 1, but they were able to bounce back and win that game, and to stay in the title race in Ligue 1. PSG was the better team in that match with 59% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and a solid 90% of the correct passes. Even without Mbappe who missed this match because of the injury, PSG was solid in the attacking end, and they have scored 1 goal in each half. On the defensive end, PSG has been a bit sloppy for a while, but they have conceded only 1 goal here, and PSG was able to win this match 2-1. Mbappe should be ready for this important Champions League game, but I won’t be painless. Bernat and Letellier are injured, while Gueya is suspended because of the red card from last week. Mbappe is the big part of this team, the most important part, and he is the leading goalscorer for PSG in the Champions League with 8 goals. Neymar has added 6 goals. PSG has conceded 2 goals at home last week, which means a 0-1 win is not enough for them in the second leg, but I’m sure they won’t just blindly attack in the second leg because that would have been a suicide.
The first leg was spectacular, and I think the second leg will be too. City is on a 4-game winning streak, while PSG is on a 10-game winning streak on the road. These are two of the best teams in Europe, and they both deserve to be in the finals, but there can be only one, and I think it will be Manchester City.
