- Tyson founded the Legends Only League as a platform for former boxing greats to fight again in exhibition matches and special events.
Iron Mike Tyson will return to the ring this fall.
According to Tyson’s head coach, Rafael Cordeiro of Kings MMA, the 54-year old former undisputed heavyweight boxing champion is currently training for a September fight.
Tyson’s opponent has yet to be determined but Cordeiro says that Iron Mike and his group are currently working on that while also negotiating a TV deal.
“We continue training. He’s an athlete and is always training, hitting pads here in the gym. I think we’re going to have something in September. I don’t know who because his company Legends Only League is working on it and negotiating a TV deal so they can announce a schedule, but we’re training. We’ll be fighting in September.”

Last March, Tyson told reporters that a third fight with Evander Holyfield was “on” for May 29th in a fight that would be put on by his “Legends Only League” promotion. Tyson and Holyfield fought twice during their boxing careers and delivered two of the most memorable heavyweight title fights ever.
But the Holyfield fight was never officially announced and the following month, Holyfield ended up getting booked to fight Kevin McBride, the man who retired Tyson. The Holyfield vs McBride bout however, was postponed after the Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos June 5 bout was rescheduled.

The “Legends Only League” was founded by Tyson in July 2020 as a new platform where retired boxing greats get to fight in special events and exhibition boxing matches. It promoted Tyson’s exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. which was Iron Mike’s first ring appearance in 15 years.
Tyson and Jones fought to an entertaining eight-round exhibition boxing match at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last November 28, 2020. Although the bout ended in a split draw, fans enjoyed watching two of the sport’s all-time greats finally share the ring, even if it was just an exhibition match. Tyson later told reporters that he is planning to fight again in more exhibition matches.
Youngest Heavyweight Champion Ever

Tyson became the youngest boxer to win a piece of the heavyweight title when he knocked out Trevor Berbick inside two rounds to win the WBC heavyweight belt at 20 years, four months, and 22 days old. Iron Mike would go on to unify the belts and become the first heavyweight to hold all three major heavyweight titles at the same time.
Known as the original Baddest Man on the Planet, Tyson’s invincible rule as heavyweight king ended when he was defeated by Buster Douglas in one of the biggest upsets in sports. Tyson’s career would be put on hold when he was imprisoned for rape charges. After he was paroled, Tyson would return to the ring and would become heavyweight champion again before Holyfield defeated him in their first bout in 1996.
