The Kansas City Royals and the Minnesota Twins meet in an AL Central division matchup in MLB action from Target Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Kansas City Royals will look to build on an 11-3 win over the Twins in their last matchup. Salvador Perez leads the Royals with a .280 batting average and 28 hits with 6 home runs and 16 RBIs while Carlos Santana has 6 homers of his own with a team-high RBIs and a .374 OBP. Perez and Jorge Soler each have a team-high 7 doubles while Nicky Lopez and HAnser Alberto each have a pair of triples. Brad Keller is expected to start here and is 2-2 with a 9.00 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. In his career, Keller is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA and 28 strikeouts against Minnesota.
The Minnesota Twins will look to bounce back from a disappointing showing against the Royals on Saturday. Nelson Cruz leads the Twins with a .325 batting average, 8 home runs and 21 RBIs while Byron Buxton also has 8 home runs with a team-high 29 hits as well as 8 doubles and 14 RBIs. Luis Arraez also has a team best .379 OBP as well on the year for the Twins. Jose Berrios will start here and is 202 with a 3.04 ERA and 33 strikeouts this season. In his career, Berrios is 3-4 with a 4.66 ERA and 74 strikeouts against Kansas City.
Kansas City is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall and 5-1 in their last 6 division games while the under is 10-1-1 in their last 12 Sunday games. Minnesota is 16-7 in their last 23 division games and 4-10 in their last 14 games as a favorite while the over is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a right-handed starter. The under is 7-1-1 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams.
This has been one of the harder series to figure out so far, as the two sides have split the first two games and the pitching matchup for the finale is a wash. With that said, I think the offenses show up in the finale as Brad Keller hasn’t been the same solid arm for KC that he was last season and Berrios hasn’t had luck with his best stuff so far this season. I think both starters get knocked around here, so give me the over.
