MLB Tuesday same game parlay (+1292): Boston Red Sox vs Seattle Mariners

Xander-Bogaerts-Rafael-Devers-Red-Sox

We have a more-than-full 16-game slate in Major League Baseball on Tuesday, as the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians are contesting a double-header. The schedule is headlined in part by a crucial showdown in the American League wild-card race between the Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners. Let’s take a look at the best same game parlay option for Red Sox-Mariners, and be sure to also check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total.

Boston Red Sox -1.5 (+110)

Nathan Eovaldi over 7.5 strikeouts (+150)

Rafael Devers to hit a home run (+240)

Parlay odds: +1292

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is the entire plan here, as Nathan Eovaldi striking out Seattle batters left and right plus Rafael Devers going deep would obviously go well with a Boston win. Let’s break down each leg one by one.

Boston Red Sox -1.5 (+110)

On Tuesday night Eovaldi (10-8, 3.57 ERA, 3.51 xFIP) gets the ball for the Red Sox opposite Tyler Anderson (6-9, 4.20 ERA, 4.53 xFIP) of the Mariners. Eovaldi’s ability to work deep into Tuesday night’s contest will put Boston’s bullpen in a stable spot to hold a lead over the later innings. He enters Tuesday coming off his best start of 2021, holding Tampa Bay scoreless over 7.0 innings of work. Anderson heads into Tuesday on the heels of his worst start as a Mariner against Houston on September 8. He surrendered 4 runs on 7 hits in 4.2 innings. The Red Sox hit left-handed pitching at an above-average clip this season, sporting a .262 AVG. Their offense has also been one of the most efficient units over the past 2 weeks, ranking 7th in OPS (.788 OPS.) Seattle was fairly fortunate to come away with a victory in Monday’s contest and it is unlikely to accomplish the same feat here.

Nathan Eovaldi over 7.5 strikeouts (+150)

Eovaldi has recorded at least 7 strikeouts in 4 consecutive starts, including a total of 17 in his past 2. He also mowed down batters when the Red Sox humiliated the Rays 20-8 in Aug. 11. There is no reason why the right-hander can’t inflict similar damage on a Seattle squad that has fanned the 5th-most times in Major League Baseball this year. It should also be noted that Eovaldi has thrown at least 94 pitches in 4 straight appearances and he has reached the 100-pitch mark 8 times in 2021. To say he isn’t on a short leash would be a gross understatement. Count on Eovaldi turning in another long, productive start that will give him every opportunity to continue his impressive K numbers.

Rafael Devers to hit a home run (+240)

Devers has hit 34 home runs this season, including 1 in Monday’s loss to the Mariners. He has a lefty-vs-lefty matchup in store for Tuesday, but that is of no cause for concern. The star third baseman is hitting better against southpaws (.278) than against right-handers (.270) in 2021. His home-run rate against lefties isn’t quite as high, but it’s not far off. Devers has hit safely in 10 of the last 13 games, so he is seeing it very well right now. Don’t be surprised if he leaves the yard for the second time in as many contests.
