Philadelphia Flyers vs New York Rangers NHL Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/24/21

The New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers meet Wednesday in NHL action at the Wells Fargo Center.

The New York Rangers look for a win after splitting their last 10 games. The New York Rangers are averaging 2.4 goals per game and are scoring on 12.9 percent of their power play opportunities. Artemi Panarin leads New York with five goals, Pavel Buchnevich has eight assists and Mika Zibanejad has 47 shots on goal. Defensively, the New York Rangers are allowing 2.6 goals per game and are killing 85.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Igor Shesterkin has given up 23 goals on 295 shots faced and Alexandar Georgiev has given up 17 goals on 159 shots.

The Philadelphia Flyers need a win after losing four of their last five games. The Philadelphia Flyers are averaging 3.4 goals per game and are scoring on 20 percent of their power play opportunities. James van Riemsdyk leads Philadelphia with eight goals, Claude Giroux has 10 assists and Kevin Hayes has 37 shots on goal. Defensively, the Philadelphia Flyers are allowing 3.3 goals per game and are killing 71.2 percent of their opponents power plays. Carter Hart has allowed 20 goals on 192 shots faced and Brian Elliott has allowed 11 goals on 152 shots.

The Rangers are 5-2 in their last 7 Wednesday games and 6-14 in their last 20 overall. The Flyers are 28-13 in their last 41 home games and 1-4 in their last 5 overall. The under is 16-5 in Rangers last 21 overall. The over is 4-0 in Flyers last 4 Wednesday games. The Rangers are 2-5 in the last 7 meetings in Philadelphia and 2-9 in the last 11 meetings.

The New York Rangers have played the better hockey over the last couple of weeks and their defensive effort has picked up. The Philadelphia Flyers are coming off a rough week, but they’re still the better team here and remain one of the more profitable teams in the league dating back to the end of last season. I’m not giving up on the Flyers because a few losses. As long as the prices are reasonable, I’m still on the Flyers bandwagon, a team that’s been good to me for a while.
