The Houston Rockets travel to the Moda Center to battle the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in a slump as they’ve lost six of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping for a better showing after getting routed by the Mavericks in a 110-91 road loss on Wednesday. Alperen Sengun led the team with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Jae’Sean Tate added 13 points while Christian Wood chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Rockets shot just 40 percent from the field and a miserly four of 28 from the 3-point line as they got off to a nice start and took the narrow lead going into halftime, before getting blown out in the second half where they managed just 38 points. Jalen Green had a rough night as he scored just eight points on three of 11 shooting while Garrison Matthews finished with just two points on one of five shooting.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 11 of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting destroyed by the Spurs in a 133-96 loss on Wednesday. Ben McLemore led the team with 23 points on seven of nine shooting off the bench, Drew Eubanks added 20 points with nine rebounds and four assists while Trendon Watford chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot just 38 percent from the field and seven of 26 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and they were never in the contest after getting outscored by 81-53 in the first half. Brandon Williams had a rough night as he scored just seven points on three of 13 shooting while Justise Winslow finished scoreless on zero of five shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 0-6 ATS in their last six road games, 18-41 ATS in their last 59 games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Trail Blazers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Head to head, the Rockets are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Portland and the Rockets are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Rockets are coming into this meeting low on confidence as they’ve been in a terrible slump and just got blown out by the shorthanded Mavericks in their last outing, while the Trail Blazers are seriously shorthanded and they just got blown out by 37 points to the struggling Spurs on Wednesday. You really couldn’t bet your hard earned money on either team with any confidence this season, but I’m leaning towards the Rockets to escape with the win and cover behind big games from Wood and Tate.
