The Houston Rockets and the Portland Trail Blazers duke it out once again at the Moda Center on Saturday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in poor form as they’ve lost seven of their last 11 games overall, but they will be hoping to stay hot after last night’s 125-106 road win over the Trail Blazers. Jalen Green led the team with 23 points on nine of 16 shooting, Jae’Sean Tate added 17 points, Kenyon Martin Jr. added 16 points off the bench while Kevin Porter Jr. chipped in with 13 points and seven assists. As a team, the Rockets shot 51 percent from the field and 19 of 45 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 35 points in the first quarter to jump out to an early double-digit lead which only grew in the second half as the Rockets’ 3-point shooting kept them in front.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost 12 of their last 14 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after last night’s blowout loss to the Rockets. Trendon Watford led the team in scoring with 19 points and six assists, Drew Eubanks added 18 points while Ben Mclemore chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 50 percent from the field and a miserly three of 20 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and never looked likely after getting outscored by 35-22 in the first quarter. Brandon Williams had a night to forget as he finished with just two points on one of 10 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 0-6 ATS in their last six road games, 18-41 ATS in their last 59 games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Trail Blazers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings overall, the Rockets are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Portland and the Rockets are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Rockets just about had it all their way last night in an impressive win and it was mainly because of the massive disparity from the 3-point line where the Rockets outscored them by 57-9. It’s always tough to beat the same team in their own building twice in a row, but the Trail Blazers gave up on this season a long time ago and I think the Rockets are good enough to get the narrow win and cover in this spot.
