Portland Trail Blazers vs New Orleans Pelicans 3/30/22 NBA Picks, Predictions, Odds

The New Orleans Pelicans invade the Moda Center to take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.

The New Orleans Pelicans have been in decent form as they’ve won four of their last six games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after beating the Lakers in a 116-108 win on Sunday. Brandon Ingram led the team with 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Trey Murphy added 21 points off the bench, Jonas Valanciunas tallied 19 points with 12 rebounds while CJ McCollum chipped in with 18 points and six assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 48 percent from the field and nine of 27 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Lakers in the first half, falling behind by as many as 23 points, before they outscored the Lakers by 67-39 in the second half to win comfortably in the end.

Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost 14 of their last 16 games and they will be hoping to put an end to a four-game slide after getting stopped by the Thunder in a 134-131 overtime loss on Monday. Ben McLemore drained eight 3-pointers to lead the team with 28 points off the bench, Drew Eubanks added 27 points with 14 rebounds on 12 of 14 shooting while Brandon Williams tallied 25 points with 12 assists and four steals. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 45 percent from the field and 20 of 50 from the 3-point line as they squandered an eight-point lead in the final 2:30 of the fourth quarter, before they squandered another lead in the overtime period to finish on the wrong side of the scoreboard.

Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Trail Blazers are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.

Head to head, the Pelicans are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.

The Pelicans could be shorthanded again as Jonas Valanciunas and Larry Nance Jr are both listed as day to day, while the Trail Blazers remain the most shorthanded team in the league with a total of 11 players listed as out on the injury report. The line is quite hefty, so it’s tempting to take the Trail Blazers with the points, but I can see McCollum and Ingram having their way against the makeshift lineup of the Trail Blazers. The Pelicans are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 road games and I think that trend continues here as the Pelicans escape with the big win.
