The Houston Rockets pay a visit to the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center on Friday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 11 of their past 13 games overall, but they will be aiming to build some momentum in this one after snapping a three-game skid with a 128-124 road win over the Spurs on Wednesday. Eric Gordon led the team with 31 points on nine of 10 shooting, Christian Wood added 23 points with 11 rebounds, Kevin Porter Jr. added 18 points while Jae’Sean Tate chipped in with 13 points and seven assists on six of six shooting. As a team, the Rockets shot 54 percent from the field and 16 of 36 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 12-point lead, before making up for it with 37 points in the fourth quarter to escape with the much-needed win.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in a real funk lately as they’ve lost six of their past eight games and they will be looking to build some momentum after stopping a five-game skid with a 125-116 home win over the Lakers on Wednesday. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 29 points, Harrison Barnes added 23 points on nine of 14 shooting while Marvin Bagley chipped in with 16 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Kings shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 11 of 30 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble after allowing the Lakers to pour in 67 points in the first half, but they responded with 40 points in the third quarter to take full control after trailing for most of the game.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 20-42 ATS in their last 62 games against a team with a losing record, 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Kings are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Sacramento, the Rockets are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and the Rockets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Sacramento.
The Rockets have been the doormats of the league this season, but their confidence will be up after beating the Spurs on Wednesday and you could almost say the same about the Kings who had lost five in a row before their win over the Lakers. It’s hard to make an argument for either side as both teams have been struggling lately, but the Kings have their core intact and I think that will be the difference in a close one. The Kings are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and I think that trend continues here.
