The Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners meet Thursday in MLB action at T-Mobile Park.
The Cleveland Indians look for a win after winning eight of their last nine games. The Indians have scored 14 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last nine games. The Indians have won 10 straight games when scoring four or more runs. Jose Ramirez leads the Indians with 31 hits and 20 RBI while Franmil Reyes and Josh Naylor have combined for 58 hits and 31 RBI. Zach Plesac gets the ball, and he is 2-3 with a 3.83 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. This will be Plesac’s first career game against the Mariners.
The Seattle Mariners need a win here to snap a four-game losing streak. The Mariners have scored seven runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last 10 games. The Mariners have split their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. Mitch Haniger leads the Mariners with 36 hits and 27 RBI while Kyle Seager and JP Crawford have combined for 64 hits and 38 RBI. Logan Gilbert will make his major league debut when he gets the ball tonight. Gilbert was 11-5 with a 2.12 ERA and 170 strikeouts in his minor league career.
The Indians are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 1 of a series and 65-31 in their last 96 Thursday games. The Mariners are 4-0 in their last 4 Thursday games and 1-4 in their last 5 overall. The under is 4-1 in Indians last 5 overall. The over is 4-0 in Mariners last 4 overall. The Indians are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Seattle and 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
This should be a fun game as we see the debut of highly touted Logan Gilbert and what he’s capable of, as he’s pegged to be one of the best players in the Mariners organization. The issue is I have a hard time backing guys making their big league debut, as you simply don’t know what to expect. With no 2020 season, Gilbert has just five innings under his belt the last two years. I’ll take my chances with the Cleveland Indians on the road.
