Stanford vs UCLA College Football Picks, Odds, Predictions 9/25/2021
The UCLA Bruins and the Stanford Cardinal meet in a Pac-12 college football matchup from Stanford Stadium on Saturday.
The UCLA Bruins come into this one licking their wounds after a 40-37 upset loss to Fresno State in their last game. Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s thrown for 668 yards, 7 touchdowns and an interception on 55% passing while Zach Charbonnet leads the Bruins with 242 rushing yards and 6 rushing TDs and Brittain Brown’s got 197 rushing yards and a pair of scores as well. Kyle Philips is UCLA’s top receiver with 11 catches for 174 yards and 3 scores while Greg Dulcich and Kam Brown each have 100+ receiving yards as well this season. Defensively, Qwuantrezz Knight leads the Bruins with 18 total tackles including 15 solo tackles while Bo Calvert has a pair of sacks for the Bruins’ defense this season.
The Stanford Cardinal will be looking to add to their 41-23 victory over Vanderbilt in their last game. Tanner McKee has thrown for 570 yards and 5 touchdowns on 71.4% passing while Nathaniel Peat has 169 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns and Austin Jones has 118 rushing yards as well. Brycen Tremaine leads the Cardinal’s receiving group with 13 grabs for 165 yards and 3 scores while John Humphreys and Elijah Higgins each have 100+ receiving yards as well this season. Defensively, Kyu Blu Kelly and Ricky Miezan each have 17 total tackles with 12 solo tackles while Noah Williams has a team-high 13 solo tackles. Kelly also leads the Cardinal with a pair of interceptions and Stephen Herron also has a pair of sacks.
UCLA is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games in September while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record. Stanford is 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record.
I get that the Stanford win was a quality one, but I think the Cardinal are prime for a letdown against a ticked off UCLA team that knows they dropped the ball against Fresno State. Normally I’d think there could be a hangover for a team like UCLA, but I’m willing to bet that Chip Kelly laid into his guys and has the Bruins wanting to take out some frustration on Stanford. Give me the Bruins here.
