The Atlanta Braves and the Toronto Blue Jays meet Sunday in MLB action from Dunedin Stadium.
This will be the final installment of a three-game set between these teams. Toronto took Friday’s game, then in the Saturday game two the Jays did it again with a 10-inning victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.
Atlanta couldn’t find much offense in the Friday game, posting just five runs on nine hits in a 13-5 blowout loss. In the Saturday matchup, the Braves managed 11 hits but couldn’t score until the ninth in an eventual 6-5 loss in 10 innings. Starter Charlie Morton went 5.1 innings with four earned.
For Sunday’s game, the Braves are sending Ian Anderson to the hill for the start. This year over five outings, Anderson has 29.0 innings with 20 hits, eight earned runs, three homers allowed, 12 walks, 31 strikeouts and a 2.48 ERA overall.
Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they bagged 13 runs on 14 hits in the Friday game, and Teoscar Hernandez bagged three RBI on two hits. On Saturday, Toronto had to rely on some late heroics to get the walk-off but they got the job done. George Springer finished with three RBI on two hits.
For the Sunday starting pitcher job, the Blue Jays haven’t made an announcement just yet but we’ll update when they do.
Check back for the current trends in this matchup once they’re released.
PICK: I’m going to take a shot on the Braves here. Anderson has some good numbers thus far, and over his last two starts he’s got 13.2 innings with five hits and no earned. Anderson has also posted some solid strikeout rates (31 in 29.0 innings) and has a great changeup that’s served him well. I like Anderson to pitch well here to keep it going and get the Braves in a good spot.
