The Los Angeles Lakers pay a visit to the Utah Jazz at the Vivint Arena on Thursday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been in terrible form as they’ve lost seven of their last nine games and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game skid after getting blown off the floor by the Mavericks in a 128-110 road loss on Tuesday. Malik Monk led the team with 28 points on 10 of 16 shooting, Russell Westbrook tallied 25 points with eight rebounds and six assists while Stanley Johnson chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Lakers shot 44 percent from the field and 12 of 44 from the 3-point line but this was a game that they were never going to win after allowing the Mavericks to explode for 82 points in a nightmare of a first half. The Lakers trailed in this one by as many as 37 points in the third quarter and were without LeBron James who sat out with an ankle injury.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in a slump as they are now hoping to avoid a sixth straight loss after coming up short against the Clippers in a 121-115 road loss on Tuesday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 33 points and six assists, Rudy Gobert added 19 points with 16 rebounds and three blocks while Jordan Clarkson chipped in with 17 points and five assists off the bench. As a team, the Jazz shot 55 percent from the field and 12 of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a flying start and led by as many as 25 points in the first half, but they never put the Clippers away and it cost them in the fourth quarter where the Clippers exploded for 39 points to snatch the game from them in the end behind a big game from Paul George who scorched them for 34 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games against a team above .600, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games as a road underdog and 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall. The Jazz are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 home games, 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record and 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Lakers are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Lakers will again be without LeBron James for this one, while the Jazz are still missing Hassan Whiteside and Bojan Bogdanovic. The Lakers are coming into this game ice-cold, they just got blown out by the Mavericks and will again be shorthanded in this one. The Jazz are a little banged up themselves and they will be gutted after blowing a 25-point lead to the Clippers on Tuesday. The Jazz have been well below their best lately and they’ve actually been one of the most disappointing teams, but that’s nothing compared to the Lakers who will be missing the playoffs altogether. The Jazz are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 home games and they need this win bad to get their season back on track.
