Wendell Carter Jr. Will Not Play Thursday

Wendell Carter Jr. will not be playing when the Orlando Magic host the New Orleans Pelicans. Marc Stein confirmed that a sore right ankle would keep Carter Jr. out of the lineup.

We’re expecting Mo Bamba to step into the starting lineup in place of Carter Jr. Bamba has played in 34 games this season, putting up 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, but hasn’t started in any of them. Bamba has contributed 1.0 win shares on the season, compared to the 1.3 from Carter Jr., as calculated by Basketball-Reference.

Bamba has increased his fantasy impact over his recent sample. He’s put up above-average FanDuel Fantasy Points in four of his last six games. He should handle the bulk of the minutes tonight and has a $5,000 salary on the FanDuel main slate.

The Magic have just one win over their last 10 games and average 102.9 points per game over that span. They will tip-off as 10.5 underdogs against Zion Williamson and the Pelicans.
