Winnipeg Jets vs Edmonton Oilers NHL Picks, Odds, Predictions 1/26/21

The Edmonton Oilers and the Winnipeg Jets meet in NHL action from Bell MTS Place on Tuesday night.

The Edmonton Oilers will look to build off of a 4-3 win over the Jets in their last matchup. Connor McDavid leads the Oilers in scoring with 4 goals and 6 assists for his 10 points while Leon Draisaitl is right behind with 9 points coming on 3 goals and 6 assists. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Kailer Yamamoto each have 3 goals and 3 assists for their 6 points this season. Mikko Koskinen continues to be the workhorse in goal for Edmonton, going 3-4 on the year with a 3.18 GAA, allowing 22 goals on 237 shots this year.

The Winnipeg Jets will look to rebound from their loss to Edmonton last time out. Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor share the team-high in scoring with 9 points apiece, with Connor logging 4 goals and 5 assists while Scheifele has 3 goals and a team-high 6 assists. Blake Wheeler has 3 goals and 5 assists for his 8 points and Nikolaj Ehlers has 4 goals with 3 assists for 7 points. Andrew copp has 5 points and Neal Pionk, Paul Stastny and Adam Lowry all have 4 points so far this season. Connor Hellebuyck’s seen the bulk of action in goal for Winnipeg, going 3-1 with a 2.25 GAA, allowing 9 goals on 113 shots this season.

Edmonton is 4-9 in their last 13 games overall and 0-6 in their last 6 games following a win while the over is 4-1-2 in their last 7 games as a road favorite. Winnipeg is 8-3 in their last 11 home games and 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games. Edmonton is 3-7 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.

I get the case you could make for either side, but I’m still going to side with Winnipeg here. The Jets have been the more consistent team out of the gate and while Winnipeg did stumble against Edmonton last time out, I still think the Jets just have more depth and can get the job done over a top-heavy Edmoton side in terms of goal and point distribution so I’ll back the Jets in this one.
