The Colorado Rockies and the Texas Rangers meet Wednesday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. This will be the final installment in a three-game series this week. The Rangers took a tight win in the Monday opener, then on Tuesday Texas kept it going with another victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Colorado showed some late life in the Monday game, but couldn’t bridge the gap in a 4-3 defeat. In the Tuesday matchup, the Rockies scored twice in the seventh but couldn’t catch up in a 4-3 defeat. Austin Gomber lasted 4.1 innings with four earned on six walks and four hits.

For the starter gig in the Wednesday game, the Rockies will send out Kyle Freeland. Over his 90.2 innings this year Freeland has 98 hits, 43 runs (42 earned), 15 homers allowed, 23 walks, 80 Ks and a 4.17 ERA.

Over on the Rangers’ side, they jumped out to a 4-0 lead Monday but had to hold on in the tense win. On Tuesday, Texas had just five team hits and scored in four different innings. Starter Jordan Lyles put up 6.2 innings with three earned on six hits and one walk.

Starting pitcher for the Wednesday matchup will be the Rangers’ Kohei Arihara. In 28.2 innings of work this year Arihara has 32 hits, 22 runs (21 earned), seven homers allowed, 12 walks, 17 Ks and a 6.59 ERA.

The Rockies are 7-1 in their last eight in game three of a series and 10-22 in their last 32 interleague road games versus a team with a losing record. Colorado is 17-50 in their last 67 road games and the under is 3-1-1 in the last five Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are 16-35 in their last 51 interleague games and 15-36 in their last 51 versos the NL West. Texas is 15-37 in their last 52 overall and 7-19 in their last 26 in game three of a series.

PICK: I’m sticking with the Rockies. Arihara hasn’t pitched in a while (May 8) and he hasn’t been good over his last three starts. In that span Arihara has 8.1 innings with 16 earned runs on 16 hits, six homers and nine walks. As for Freeland, he’s given up five earned in 20.0 innings over his last three starts. Arihara probably won’t be out there for long, and Colorado should have plenty of opportunities in this one.
