Toronto Maple Leafs vs Edmonton Oilers NHL Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/29/21

The Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Maple Leafs meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Arena on Monday night.

The Edmonton Oilers will be out for revenge after a 4-3 loss to the Leafs on Saturday night. Connor McDavid leads the Oilers in scoring with 62 points including 21 goals and 41 assists, both team-highs, while Leon Draisaitl has 53 points with 19 goals and 34 assists. Tyson Barrie has 32 points with 27 assists while Darnell Nurse and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each have 26 points coming on 11 goals and 15 assists. As a team, Edmonton is averaging 3.4 goals on 31.3 shots with a 27% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.9 goals on 31 shots with a 76% success rate on the PK this season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to build on the win over Edmonton that gave Toronto their 3rd straight W. Mitch Marner leads the Leafs in scoring with 42 points coming on 12 goals and a team-high 30 assists while Auston Matthews has 39 points with a team-high 22 goals and 17 assists. John Tavares has 28 points with 10 goals and 18 assists and William Nylander has 26 points with 13 goals and 13 assists and Morgan Rielly has 25 points with 22 assists this season. As a team, Toronto is averaging 3.3 goals on 30.9 shots with a 26.8% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.6 goals on 28.5 shots with a 76.8% kill rate on the PK this season.

Edmonton is 7-3 in their last 10 games overall and 7-3 in their last 10 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog. Toronto is 14-3 in their last 17 games against a team with a winning record and 13-5 in their last 18 games following a win while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a home favorite. Edmonton is 6-21 in the last 27 meetings between these two teams and 2-9 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Toronto.

I get why the plus money is worth a look with the Oilers as any team with Connor McDavid is going to have a chance to win. However, the Leafs are back in form right now and I just think Toronto has a lot more depth than the Oilers do as Edmonton’s really reliant on the top of their lineup for production. I think the Leafs are starting to get back on track, so give me Toronto here.
