Blake Griffin Out Thursday

Blake Griffin will sit out of Thursday’s matchup between the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics due to injury management from a lingering knee issue. Griffin practiced with the team and was set to make his Nets’ debut but will be held out of an abundance of caution.

Griffin signed with the Nets as a free agent on Mar. 8 after receiving a Detroit Pistons buyout. He played 20 games for the team, averaging 31 minutes, 12 points, five rebounds and four assists per game. In his three years with the Pistons, Griffin played 113 games, averaging 33 minutes, 21 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Griffin, an 11-year veteran and six-time all-star, should see extended playing time and likely start in a rotation featuring James Harden, Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan and Kevin Durant.

The Nets, +300 favorite to win the NBA championship, are a 3-point home favorite against the Celtics on FanDuel Sportsbook, in a game with a 234 total.
