Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers NHL Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/13/21

The Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks meet in NHL action from Rogers Arena on Saturday night.

The Edmonton Oilers will look to build on a 6-2 win over the Ottawa Senators last time out. Connor McDavid leads the Oilers in scoring with 51 points coming on team-highs of 17 goals and 34 assists while Leon Draisaitl isn’t far behind with 15 goals and 29 assists for his 44 points this season. Edmonton is averaging 3.3 goals per game with 31.2 shots on goal and a 26.6% mark on the power play while allowing 3 goals per game on 31.6 shots per game against with a 76.7% success rate on the penalty kill this season.

The Vancouver Canucks will look to rebound from a 5-1 loss to Montreal in their last matchup. Brock Boeser leads the Canucks in scoring with 29 points including a team-high 14 goals while J.T. Miller has 25 points and Quinn Hughes has 24 points with a team-high 22 assists this season. Vancouver is averaging 2.8 goals per game with 31 shots per game and a 19.6% conversion rate on the power play while allowing 3.2 goals per game on 32.9 shots per game against with an 80.4% kill rate on the PK this season.

Edmonton is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 5-0 in their last 5 games as a road favorite while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 road games. Vancouver is 6-13 in their last 19 games overall and 3-7 in their last 10 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games overall. Edmonton is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Vancouver.

I get why plus money and a home dog is worth a look, but just when you think the Canucks might’ve turned a corner, Vancouver gets back up to their old tricks and old habits die hard as the Canucks just fold like a cheap lawnchair against Montreal. Antics like that won’t do against an Edmonton team that scores goals for fun and to be honest, I’m not liking the Canucks’ chances here. I’ll lay the juice with Edmonton in this spot.
